Whisper AI — Weekly Update | 16 February 2026
This week's release brings meaningful improvements to two core areas of the Whisper AI experience: model performance and context management. We've also shipped a number of smaller quality-of-life improvements based on user feedback.
New Model: LFM 2.5 1.2b
We've upgraded the underlying model powering Whisper AI from LLaMA 1B to LFM 2.5 1.2b, developed by Liquid AI. The LFM 2.5 architecture was designed specifically for on-device deployment — built from the ground up to run efficiently on mobile hardware rather than being scaled down from a larger model. In real-world testing on device, our team found it to be a significant improvement in response quality, instruction following, and conversational fluency, at roughly the same memory footprint as before. As always, all inference runs entirely on your device. No data is sent to external servers.
Context Management: Unlimited Conversations
Previous versions of Whisper AI would abruptly cut off responses when the model reached its context limit — an experience that was confusing and disruptive for users in longer conversations. This release resolves that with a proper sliding context window implementation. Conversations can now run indefinitely without being cut off. As a conversation grows very long, the model will naturally lose access to the earliest parts of the exchange — this is an inherent constraint of on-device inference. Rather than hiding this, Whisper AI will now surface a clear in-app notification when this occurs, so users always understand the state of their conversation. This update includes:
- Sliding context window — no more abrupt response cut-offs
- Appropriate user warnings when earlier context falls outside the active window
- Proper model configuration to handle long-form conversations gracefully
Additional Improvements
Logo in chat — The Whisper AI logo is now displayed alongside the chat interface, improving visual clarity and product identity. Copy user messages — Users can now copy their own messages directly from the conversation view.
